I am 49 years old, father to three amazing young people, now 19, 17 and 13.
I have decided to go for a lifelong dream as a professional model. Growing up I lived next door to a girl who had a career in modelling, she was often seen on TV and I always thought, “wow, what an amazing thing to be doing”. My childhood home was full of music, my father worked for EMI records and in his younger years he played at local clubs. In turn I picked up a guitar at a very young age and have played ever since. My oldest daughter is very much like her grandfather, and she too is now starting a career in music, and producing her own songs.
Being the third child of four myself, I always had to fight for attention, this has served me well in life and I have had a thirty-year career within the printing industry, I am currently working as the UK National sales manager for a major manufacturer of print finishing equipment, built here in the UK.
While this job has been great and very fulfilling, it does not have the buzz and appeal I feel when I am stood in front of the lens at a photo shoot.
My career in the print industry has taken me to many other parts of the world, The USA, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, South Africa, and most of the eastern European countries. This has given me a zest for travel and a desire to see other cultures and experiences.
I am a bit of a petrol head and love sports cars; recent track days have given a smile that makes your cheeks hurt. Sport is also something I enjoy taking part in and watching, I still play football twice a week and attend the gym most other evenings. Keeping your body fit and well is vital to a positive happy personality. For the more relaxing sports, I enjoy fishing and golf.
I am hard working and enjoy pushing myself, making big decisions and going for it. This is what life is all about. You need to try even if you fail, rather than fail to try.
My family is my rock, spending quality time with my children is the most rewarding part of life. Seeing and helping them grow and chase their own dreams and desires is as rewarding as chasing your own. Me choosing to pursue my career as a model is showing my children that no matter what life throws at you or how old you are, you can always chase your dreams, and don’t ever give up.
Life is short and uncertain, live for the day and make the most of what you have, love and be loved and treat others how you would like to be treated. This is how I try to live my life.
I think it is the only way.
